Mt. Everest is the highest mountain on Earth, as measured from sea level. It is about 29,000 feet high. However, Mauna Kea, a volcano in Hawaii, is much higher if you measure it from its base below sea level to its top. It is 33,500 feet high, nearly a mile taller than Everest.
